Cited Reference Search: Step 2 of 2
This page displays a list of cited references that the system returned based
on your Cited Reference Search query.
The Citing Articles count is the total number of citing
articles in the database you are searching.
Important Reminder: When you complete a cited reference
search, the number of citing items you retrieve may be smaller than the number
listed in the Citing Articles column if your institution's subscription does not
include all years of the database. In other words, the count in the
Citing Articles column is not limited by your institution's subscription.
However, your access to records in the product is limited by your institution's
subscription.

About Cited References
Every reference in the Cited Reference Index has been cited by at least one
article.
The first author of a cited work always displays in the Cited Author column.
If the cited author you specified in step 1 is not the primary author, then the
name of author you specified follows the name of the first author.
The View Record link takes you to the full record of the
cited item. If there is no View Record link:
- The cited reference is not a source article in a Web of Science database.
- The cited reference may contain incomplete or inaccurate information.
Consequently, it cannot be linked to a source article.
- The cited reference may refer to a document from a publication outside the
timespan of your subscription. For example, the reference may be to an article
published in 1992, but your subscription to Web of Science has only 20 years of
data.
- The cited item may refer to a document from a publication not covered by a
database in your Web of Science subscription.

View Record Link
This link takes you to the Full Record of a cited item. If a cited reference
cannot be expanded by clicking on the Show Expanded Title link, and the
reference has no View Record link, then:
-
The item is a reference to a work published outside the range of your
subscription. For example, if you subscribe to the 10 most recent years and the
reference is to an article published in 1982, the reference will not have a View
Record link.
-
The item is a reference to a work published in a journal that is not indexed
in the product database. There is no Full Record for the item.
-
The item is a reference to a publication that is not indexed in the product.
There is no Full Record for the item.
-
The item contains incorrect or missing information and cannot be linked to a
Full Record. It is most likely a variation of another cited reference that may
or may not be linked to a Full Record.
