Full Record

View all of the information about a record that is contained in the product database. The title of the document appears at the top of the page.

Any or all of the following fields may appear in a record, depending on the content and type of the source document. If no data are available for a particular field, then the field does not display.

Full Record Fields

There are three different types of Full Records in the Data Citation Index. They include:

• Repository
• Data Study
• Data Set

Title

Full title of the source document.

From Repository

The name of the source Repository from where the record was retrieved. Click the hyperlink to go to the Full Record of the named source repository.

From Data Study

The name of the Data Study from where the record was retrieved. Click the hyperlink to go to the Full Record of the named Data Study.

By

The primary and secondary authors of the source document.

Click the hyperlink to see a complete list of documents authored by the selected person.

Group Author(s)

The name of the organization or institution that authored the source document.

Click the hyperlink to see a complete list of documents authored by the selected group author.

Edited by

The name of one or more editors of a source publication. Note that a corporate author can also be an editor.

Click the hyperlink to see a complete list of documents edited by the selected person.

View Researcher Profile and ORCID

This table lists the authors who have claimed the document as their work. Click an identifier to view the author's publication list on their researcher profile, hosted on Publons, or ORCID. An author may have a Web of Science ResearcherID number or an ORCID, or both.

If you're the author of the article, add it to your researcher profile, hosted on Publons, by selecting Claim on Publons - Track Citations from the drop-down menu.

Source

The name of the repository (title of the source document). Source information may include:

The Source URL hyperlink opens a new Web page to an external Web site, the source repository where you can view more bibliographic information about the selected record and have access to the data.

Categories / Classification

Research Area

Research area of the data repository. A data repository may have more than one research area. Research area terms add value to Data Study and Data Set records to enable discovery and proper identification of the data.

Web of Science Categories

Subject category of the data repository. A repository may have more than one subject area.

Taxonomic Data

This table displays the following information.

Super Taxa: High-level Taxonomic terms that refer to broad categories of organisms. Super Taxa are presented in order from lowest level Taxa to highest. For example: Microorganisms, Viruses, ssDNA Viruses

Taxa Notes: Common names of broad groups of organisms and microorganisms discussed in the source document by the author. For example: Microorganisms, Single-Stranded DNA Viruses, Viruses

Organism Classifier: Represents the organism classifier and the corresponding Biosystematic Code for an organism discussed in the source document by the author. For example: Nanoviridae

Organism Name: Contains the name of an organism as given by the author(s) in the source document. For example: Banana bunchy top virus

Details: Other information such as gender of the organism, its developmental stage, and its role. It may also contain a fossil indicator and whether the organism is a new Taxon and its type. For example: (isolate Autralia)

Document Type

The selected document type. For example:

• Repository
• Data Study
• Data Set
• Software

Data Type

Displays the type of data of which the Data Study or Data Set is composed. For example:

• Expression profiling by array
• Opinion poll data
• Protein sequence data
• Semi-structured questionnaire
• Survey data

Language

The selected language of the data.

Accession Number

A unique identifying number associated with each record in the product. It consists of a product identification code and a unique item number.

PMID

PubMed ID. The PubMed ID is available for records of documents that have corresponding records in MEDLINE.

Other Information

Demographics

Displays the terms relating to the demographic limits of the data such as populations or subpopulations used in the research that created the data. Most commonly applied to the fields in the Social Sciences. For example:

Gene Name

Displays the gene names featured as the focus of the data record. For example:

Gene Name: Saccharomyces cerevisiae ste11 gene

Geospatial

This table displays geographical or other geospatial terms associated with the data and which are significant in interpreting the data and the location where the data were gathered, but not the location of the laboratory where the work was done or the author’s location.

Information presented is usually at the level of country or state and optionally carries broader term classifiers. Countries and states carry broader term classifiers to continent level. Continents and other non geographical terms may carry no classifier. For example:

Method

Describes the methodology employed in generating the data featured in the record. For example:

Method: Platform:GPL1747:Ramaciotti Centre 10k combined Rat Oligo

Miscellaneous

Displays descriptor terms which do not align with other descriptor types.

Named Person

Displays a name of the people whoe are the focus of the data. For example:

Named Person: Charles Darwin

Time

Displays any form of time or timespan associated with the data and the period over which the data were gathered. These terms may be named periods, years, or dates. For example:

Time: JULY, 1955; Cold War

Cited References in Data Citation Index

The Cited References count displays the total number of records that the current record cites. Click the link to view a list of documents that cite the current document whose title appears at the top of the page.

Access to records is limited to your institution's subscription.

Associated Records

The Associated Records table displays up to four records. Click the View All hyperlink to go to an Associated Records results page where you can view all records associated with the current record.

• The first column in the table identifies the name of the record (may be a Data Study record or Data Set record) associated with the Repository record. The name of the repository is identified in the From Repository field. Click the hyperlink to go to the Full Record page for the selected record.

• The second column indentifies the record as a Data Study or a Data Set. For example, if the current record has a document type of Repository, then the second column may contain Data Study or Data Set values as the document type. If the current record has a document type of Data Study, then the second column will contain Data Set as a value.

• The third column displays a Link to External Source hyperlink that goes to an external Web site where you can view more bibliographic information about the selected record. This is where the data in the product comes from. It is equivalent to a Full Text hyperlink.

Times Cited

The Times Cited count is the number of articles in the database that cite the current article. Click the number to go to the list of citing articles.

Cited References

The Cited References count displays the number of documents cited by the current record. Click the link to view the list of cited references. From there you can view the full record of each cited reference. (Access to the full records of cited references may be limited to your institution's subscription.)

View Related Records

To view records that share cited references with the record you are viewing in the current database, click the View Related Records link.

Create a Citation Alert 

This feature requires a subscription to the Web of Science Core Collection. Contact your system administrator for more information if this feature is unavailable at your institution.

To create a citation alert for the current record, click the Create Citation Alert button in the right-hand column of the Full Record page.

A citation alert emails you whenever a document you specify is cited by a new article. To access your alerts, from the Web of Science homepage, click Searches and Alerts > Citation Alerts. From here, you can view how many times someone cited the document, turn alerts off and on, and if you want, remove an alert.

How to Cite this Resource

The "How to Cite this Resource" feature provides a standard example of how to properly cite the Data Study or Data Set in your research paper. Use this feature to provide proper accreditation to the source information by way of a cited reference.

Output Records

Options to output records are available from the Results, Full Record, and Marked List pages.

1. Select each record to include in the output.

2. Select the data to view in the record output.

3. Select an output option:

• Save to Endnote online

• Claim on Publons - Track Citations

Add to Marked List

Add records to your Marked List where you can later print, save, e-mail, order, or export from the Marked List page.

1. Click the Marked List button that appears over the title of the record to add the current record to your Marked Records list.

2. Check to make sure that a check mark icon replaces the plus sign. The number to the right of the check mark indicates the number of records that you have added to your Marked List during the current session.

3. Click the Marked List button that appears in the menu bar at the top of the page to go to the Marked Lists page.

One-Click Search on Names

A one-click search on the name of a linked author, editor, or group author will retrieve all records by that person (within the selected timespan) that exists in the product database. Use this feature to narrow your search to records published by the selected person.

The new set of results is automatically added to the Search History table.

EN Icon

A red EN icon indicates the record has been saved to your EndNote online library. Click the icon to go to your library.

This icon only appears if you have signed in and if the record is already in your EndNote library.

NCBI

This button opens a new Web page that contains a table with NCBI resource names that link to the National Center for Biotechnology Information (NCBI). This option is only available for records for which a PubMedID exists.

Visit the NCBI Web site to look for more information on a genome or nucleotide. Explore human genome resources or bring up a Map Viewer to browse the human genome sequence.
