indexAuthor SearchBETAAuthor Search BETA helps you identify and retrieve all documents by a particular author. By focusing on what you know about the researcher, Author Search helps separate documents by different authors with the same name. The improved author search allows you to submit feedback on publication records, and allows authors to claim and curate their author records. In the appropriate fields, find an author by typing their last name followed by their first name. You can include a hyphen, a space, or an apostrophe in the Last Name field. For example:
Beta Version LimitationsThere are some limitations to the Author Search BETA:
Searching for an Author RecordAn author record is a record of publications and citation metrics of an individual researcher. Any author with a paper indexed in the Web of Science Core Collection has an author record.
For example, in the first row, you may type Maparyan, Layli and in the second row, Phillips, Layli. The system finds all published articles using these two name variations. You also may need to use Include alternative names If you have only published using your initials instead of your full name (e.g., L. Maparyan instead of Layli Maparyan) Author Search Results SummaryWhen you open an author record, all documents in the Web of Science Core Collection written by the author appear on the list of publications. It’s important to associate documents found in the Web of Science Core Collection with the correct authors to improve author data across the platform. If you’re listed as the author on the record, you can claim the record. Alternatively, if you’re not the author and you notice documents the author didn’t write, you can suggest a correction. Claiming an Author RecordUse Claim this record to claim publications you authored in the Web of Science Core Collection. This is important, because it ensures your author record only lists publications authored by you. This also allows you to manage your presence within the Web of Science using a Web of Science ResearcherID. Once you claim an author record, no one else can claim or correct it; you are the only person who can update it through your profile on Publons. You can also link your ORCID to your Publons profile to help better manage your researcher record. Steps for Claiming an Author Record
The page will redirect to the Publons site where you can sign in or create an account.
Correcting an Author RecordAuthor Search uses an intelligent algorithm to determine which publications likely belong to the same author. Sometimes, you may notice publications associated with the wrong author record, in which case, even if you are not the author, you can submit corrections to the record. This improves the accuracy of author records across the Web of Science. Your correction(s) is received by a team of editors to review. Expect an email notifying you that our team received your correction(s), and another email when our editorial team makes a decision about the correction(s). If the correction(s) is accepted, they will make changes to the Web of Science author record. Author records can be corrected multiple times and claimed by the author. If you are not already signed into Web of Science, you are taken to a sign-in page.

For example, "OR" returns results but OR returns an error message. This rules only applies to the Last Name / First Name field -- it does not apply to the Initials field. For example, entering Smith (last name) and OR (initials) is a valid search query. indexAbout Author NamesDifferent authors may be represented by the same name in the product database. For example, Richard J. Johnson and Robert J. Johnson may appear as Johnson RJ. Conversely, the same author may be represented by different names, particularly if he or she has a long publication history. For example, Barbara Demmig-Adams is indexed as: Demmig-Adams, B |
