ISI Web of Knowledge^SM Monthly Summary Report

The monthly summary report shows daily usage statistics for the month indicated at the top of the report. To see statistics for a different month, click the ISI Web of Knowledge link at the top of the page. Then select a different month and click Submit.

Usage Summary Table

The summary table shows monthly usage statistics for each of the following variables:

Variable		Description

Sessions		Number of successful logons (connections) to ISI Web of Knowledge.

Average Length		Sum of all time spent in ISI Web of Knowledge^SM, divided by the number of portal sessions, for the day. This includes time spent in products that can be accessed through ISI Web of Knowledge, as well as portal activities such as updating preferences.

Maximum Actual Users		The highest number of users who are logged on at any point during a 24-hour period.

Maximum Contractual Users		The maximum number of simultaneous logons permitted by the terms of a subscription. This number should be constant from day to day for the duration of a subscription agreement, unless the agreement is modified to increase or decrease the number of simultaneous logons.

Turnaways		The number of times a user is denied access because the maximum number of number of simultaneous logons has been reached.

At the bottom of the table are two rows showing:

Total Use		Sum of the numbers in each column. This is the total use for the month.

Average Use		Average (arithmetic mean) of the numbers in the columns. This is the average use for the month.

If you selected the option to Include IP Addresses and Token IDs on the select a report page, then the table will have an additional column with this heading: IP Address/Token ID. To the right of the IP Address or Token ID in the same row are usage statistics for that identifier. The date of usage is in the row above and to the left of the identifier.

For example, this report shows that on January 1, 2003, for the IP address is 123.45.678, there was one user who successfully logged onto ISI Web of Knowledge five times. The maximum number of users who could have concurrent sessions on that date is ten. The average length of a session was 22 minutes and 20 seconds. There were no turnaways.

Usage Summary Graph

These three graphs appear at the bottom of the page.

Sessions & Turnaways. The points on the Y-axis (ordinate) show the session and turnaway numbers for the dates on the X-axis (abscissa).

Average Length. A column chart plots the average session length per month.

Maximum Actual Users & Maximum Contractual Users. The points on the Y-axis (ordinate) plot the numbers of acutal and contractual users for the dates plotted on the X-axis (abscissa).

Note: If usage statistics are broken down by IP Address and Token ID, no graphs will appear. If you want to see usage data plotted on a graph, return to the Usage Reports Home page and select ISI Web of Knowledge again. On the page for selecting the type of usage report, clear the check box Include IP Addresses and Token IDs under the type of report you want.
